EVANSTON, Ill. -- Despite a strong outing from senior forward Ifeoma Okonkwo (Spring, Texas/ Klein Oak) Northwestern fell to the Chicago Challengers, 86-68 in an exhibition contest Friday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Okonkwo turned in an impressive, team-leading 18 point, nine rebound performance. She also chipped in four assists and grabbed two steals.

Fellow upperclassman A.J. Glasauer (Freiburg, Germany/Theodor-Huess Gymnasium) ended with 17 points. She added five rebounds, five assists and two steals. In her debut as a Wildcat, sophomore point guard Nadia Bibbs (Chicago, Ill./Hillcrest/Boston University) turned in a solid performance recording a team-high seven assists while also contributing eight points and six rebounds.

Sophomore Sara Stutz (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) was the Wildcats' other double-digit scorer, chipping in 11 points, four assists and four boards.

On the night, the Wildcats out-shot the Challengers, shooting at a 44.8 clip (30 for 67) from the field. Northwestern also trumped Chicago from the three-point arc, converting 4-for-11, good for 36.4 percent.

With 12 minutes to play, a Glasauer steal and fast break assist to Okonkwo cut the Challenger lead to six, but that was the closest the 'Cats could get.

The 'Cats turned the ball over 21 times, resulting in 31 Challenger points. Chicago added an additional 27 points from the charity strip, converting an impressive 87 percent from the line.

Northwestern officially tips off the 2005-06 campaign next Saturday, Nov. 19 hosting the Creighton Blue Jays. Tip is set for noon.
